IIM Calcutta receives a generous endowment from PGP 27th batch; Classroom L52 renamed as’CLASS of 1992 – 27 FOREVER Seminar Hall’
Kolkata : The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta received funding support for developing state-of-the-art academic and infrastructure facilities from the 27th post-graduate program (PGP) batch. The class of 1992 raised a healthy amount amongst their batch members to give back to their alma mater.
This contribution from the alumni batch will be utilized in the establishment of an endowed chair professorship along with augmenting classrooms for pedagogical flexibility. This will include upgradation of the technological framework along with improvements in allied infrastructure.
The PGPEx classroom L-52 in the New Academic Block has been renamed as ‘CLASS of 1992 – 27 FOREVER Seminar Hall’ in recognition of their contributions. The renaming ceremony was inaugurated by Professor Subir Bhattacharya, Director In-Charge, IIM Calcutta in the presence of Professor Manish Thakur, Dean (New Initiatives & External Relations). The function was attended by faculty members, officers and staff. Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal and Prof. Naveen Das attended the ceremony representing the PGP 27th batch and were joined virtually by their batchmates. The office-bearers of the IIMCAA Kolkata Chapter were also present. Dr. R. Ramaraj, the member of the Board of Governors, and currently the Chairman of the Development Committee, and the members Mr. K. K. Raman and Mr. V. Shankar graced the occasion virtually, via zoom.

He also said: “This donation marks a new landmark in alumni contributions and showcases the affection these alumni have towards IIM Calcutta. Advancement of learning modalities has always been a priority for us. It is certainly heartening to see alumni come forward to support us in making IIM Calcutta a management institute of global repute.”
