Shillong : Indian Institute of Management, Shillong inaugurated its International Student Exchange Programme, this Tuesday with Mandalay University, Myanmar. The course titled “Refresher Course in Management” is spread over a duration of 10 days and aims to facilitate MBA students to understand management through a renewed perspective in tandem with the changing global scenario.
The program was inaugurated at 9:00 A.M. by the Chief Guest, Shri Falguni Rajkumar, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Shillong. The session was addressed by the Professor Amitabha De, Director, IIM Shillong who thanked The Ministry of External Affairs and Consul General, Mandalay, Myanmar for extending their much needed support in establishing and facilitating the program. After this the participants were briefed about the institute and the course pattern by Professor Naliniprava Tripathy, Dean Research, New Initiatives & External Relations, IIM Shillong
Says, Dr. Naliniprava Tripathy, Coordinator of the Mandalay University Programme, “We look forward to more such exchanges with premier Universities and Business Schools across the globe. Such initiatives breed a rich cultural and academic discourse. They condition leaders across geographical boundaries to cope with the ever increasing challenges of modern business era”. The exchange is a student-instructor-arranged intercultural immersion experience featuring core Management learning, collaborative research and service.
A memorandum of Understanding with Mandalay University is in process to give this program a permanent shape and facilitate research initiatives and faculty-student exchanges in the coming years. The institute looks forward to this exchange as a pioneer step towards building a long lasting relationship with Myanmar and other neighbouring nations.
