IIM Tiruchirappalli celebrates its 10th Convocation
The Tenth Annual Convocation of students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), Post-Graduate Program in Human Resources (PGPM HR), Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM), and the Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) at IIM Tiruchirappalli was conducted successfully on 7th May 2022. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Jalaj Dani, the Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Tiruchirappalli. Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, the Managing Director and CEO of BSE Limited, was the Chief Guest.
Highlights
Director, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, welcomed the chief guest, board members, students, parents, alumni, and the members of the media. He congratulated the graduates and their parents for reaching this milestone despite the troubling times. He presented the report for the academic year 2020-22, where he informed about the students’ achievements in the field of sports, corporate and B-School competitions like Tata Crucible Campus Quiz, Microsoft PM Engage, Reliance TUP 7.0, Welspun Disruptor, Bond with Pidilite, etc. He also highlighted the importance of social responsibility, the Make A Difference project and congratulated the social responsibility club of IIM Tiruchirappalli, The Elixir club, for successfully redeveloping the Panchayat Union Middle School in Chinna Sooriyur village, Tiruchirappalli by installing a water purification system, benches, smart classroom, and washrooms.
Further, he spoke about the placements for the academic year 2020-22. He mentioned that in addition to the regular recruiters such as McKinsey, JP Morgan Chase, HSBC, Avalon Consulting, BNY Mellon, Deloitte, etc., new recruiters such as Nomura, Samsung, Amazon, Accenture, Wells Fargo, IBM, CRISIL also participated in the recruitment process. The Director also spoke about the international relations of the institute and informed about the agreement of academic cooperation with nine foreign universities such as Emlyon Business School in France, ISCTE Business School in Portugal, and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany for the student exchange program. Finally, he reminded everyone of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and the meaning of Bharat – the chariot that is engaged in finding the light.
Mr. Jalaj Dani, the Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Tiruchirappalli, addressed the convocation congratulating the graduating class of students for having successfully lived through two years of the pandemic. He emphasized believing in the power of resilience. He encouraged the students to usher in a new dawn and reminded them to be the ones that initiate change and leave a legacy behind.
The chief guest, Mr. Ashishkumar Chauhan, in his address shared guiding principles with the students which conveyed valuable lessons on being grateful, responsible, and curious in life. He emphasized on being hungry for more, being ethical and legally correct, and being of service to family, society, and the nation. Finally, he encouraged the graduates to find innovative solutions and bring changes that align with the reality of today’s world.
