IIM Tiruchirappalli Celebrates its Thirteenth Foundation Day
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli celebrated its Thirteenth Foundation Day on the 4th January, 2024 to mark its inception as the 11th Indian Institute of Management of the country. Shri. Anand Kripalu, MD & Global CEO, Essel Propack Limited was the chief guest. Ms. Charu Sheel Kunwar, Executive Director and CHRO, Lighthouse Canton was the Guest of Honour for the event.
The event was inaugurated with an invocation song and the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by a video presentation that depicted the milestones, achievements and major activities undertaken by the Institute over the last thirteen years.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, IIM Tiruchirappalli. While addressing students, the director talked about the history and conception of the institute and the continuous efforts that went behind shaping the Institute to become one of the best management institutes in the country. He also spoke about the importance of righteous conduct and continuous self-development for the students.
In her address, guest of honour, Ms. Charu Sheel Kunwar, Executive Director and CHRO, Lighthouse Canton, emphasized the irreplaceable value of humane characteristics in organizations, highlighting the significance of empathy and resilience. She also spoke about how AI, while being a powerful tool, cannot replace these essential human traits. The address concluded by emphasizing that success is a journey marked by persistent effort and unwavering dedication.
Social responsibility is a core value taught at IIM Tiruchirappalli. The students engage in a ‘Make a Difference’ (MAD) project using their organizational and managerial expertise to tackle complex social problems. The ‘Best MAD Project for the Batch 2022-2024’ award was presented to Pranshu Dixit, Pranzali Gupta, Priyadharshini P, Shivam Kumar Verma, Tushar Kanojia, and Varun Wadhwani. The winners had worked towards improving the livelihood of a rope-making unit run by a visually impaired person by increasing the bottom and top line simultaneously. This was followed by the felicitation of faculty and staff who have completed ten years of service at IIM Tiruchirappalli.
The Foundation Day Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Shri. Anand Kripalu, MD & Global CEO, Essel Propack Limited. Drawing from his professional experience, Shri. Kripalu emphasized the importance of learning from grassroots-level encounters and expressing a desire to make a meaningful impact. He urged the students to always aspire to leave a positive legacy. He emphasized on the great potential and opportunities present in India for the youth over the next few decades.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
