Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli felicitated the alumni of the batches (PGP 2020, 2021; PGPBM 2019, 2020, and Doctoral students) that attended the MBA and Doctoral programme online during the COVID-19 pandemic. The special event titled “Applause” was organized at IIM Tiruchirappalli campus on the 13th and 14th of August 2022. “Applause” served as an opportunity for offline interaction for the batches that missed the campus experience and graduated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Day 1 (13th Aug 2022) – Felicitation Programme:
The event began with an invocation song followed by the welcome address by Ananya Shivkumar, the student secretary of the Alumni Relations Committee. Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, IIM Tiruchirappalli, applauded the batches for showing resilience during the pandemic. He emphasized the philosophy of “saying yes to life” and becoming a nurturant-task leader. He also spoke about utilising the knowledge gained through MBA education at various stages of one’s career.
Shri. K Vaitheeswan, widely hailed as the “father of e-commerce in India” and co-founder of Again Drinks, presided over the event as Cheif Guest. In his keynote address, Shri. K Vaitheeswaran expressed the need for integrity to be the guiding principle in one’s life and highlighted the need to take the right decisions. He urged the alumni to consider taking the road less travelled to gain richer experience in career and life. He underscored that the pandemic gave the alumni batches the opportunity to realise the importance of not taking one’s family and home for granted.
Subsequently, mementos were distributed to all the alumni members present by the Director.
Professor K S Manikandan, Chairperson-Alumni Relations, proposed the vote of thanks.
The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
