IIM Tiruchirappalli Inaugurated the second batch of Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Supply Chain Management (PGCSCM – Batch 02)
Tiruchirappalli : IIM Tiruchirappalli inaugurated the second batch of the Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Supply Chain Management (PGCSCM-02) on Saturday, 09 October 2021. The chief guest for the virtual inauguration ceremony was Shri Arun Awasthy, President and Managing Director of APTIV India.
The inauguration began with the lighting of the lamp, and was followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof Alok Kumar Singh, Programme Director, PGCSCM-02. In his address, Prof Singh explained how this programme is designed to cater to the current and contemporary needs of supply chain management. He mentioned that the course would be delivered by faculty from the Operations Management and Decision Sciences (OMDS) area, as well as eminent industry experts. The programme will be attended by 59 participants from various domains having a range of experience in their respective fields. Dr. Prashant Gupta, Chairperson – Executive Education and Consulting (EEC), provided an overview of activities conducted and certifications offered by IIM Trichy in various domains, and mentioned that the institute is also actively engaged in management development and consulting activities. He welcomed the participants to the enriching learning journey of PGCSCM (Batch 02).
The Director, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, welcomed and urged the participants to be self-disciplined and committed to keep pace with the rigorous programme. He gave examples of how supply chain management is linked with human resource management and also quoted references on supply chain management from the Bhagvad Gita. He stated that the five most important concepts in this field are demand, supply, revenue, cost and profit, and that one must use both data and intuition when taking important decisions.
Mr. Anish Srikrishna, CEO- Times Professional Learning (TPL), with whom IIM Trichy is collaborating for the implementation of this programme, expressed his confidence that IIM Trichy would soon join the top institutes of this country. He stated that after reviewing the course content he sees that there is high rigour in store for the participants and that the eminent faculty and diverse mix of participants bodes well for the classroom participation and overall learning experience. He also spoke about how Times Professional Learning is one of the fastest growing and profitable EdTech companies in the country, and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the institute for this programme.
The Chief Guest Shri Arun Awasthy delivered his inaugural address. In his address, Mr. Awasthy explained the importance of supply chain functions in today’s scenario, and how APTIV has managed to adapt to the changing needs of the industry and used key supply chain functions to identify opportunities for growth. He elaborated on the importance of technology in enhancing supply chain operations and navigating risks that are not in the company’s control. He urged the participants to stay flexible and adapt to the changing industry needs and encouraged them to involve themselves in strategy and execution, which are the key aspects of success.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Prof Pravin Tambe, Programme Director, PGCSCM-02, where he thanked the chief guest for his words of wisdom and the Director for his support and motivation. He also thanked everyone involved in the designing and delivery of this programme, and TPL for their collaboration. The inauguration concluded with the National Anthem.
