IIM Tiruchirappalli Inaugurates Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defence Officers
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli inaugurated the Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defense Officers on August 29, 2022. The six-month face-to-face programme is designed for the participating fifty defense officers to sharpen their learning of business management skills. In total, 50 officers would receive education, of which six are from the Indian Army and twenty-two from the Indian Navy and Indian Air force, including nine women officers.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present. Lt Gen A Arun, YSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, South, delivered the Inaugural address. He implored the participating officers to soak in every bit of learning that the faculty and the programme had to offer. Lt. General wished for the officers to go beyond the curriculum and not just gain value from the institute but also mentor the other students on campus who had much to learn from the officers in uniform. Critical thinking, good communication, ample generosity, adaptability, empathy, and grace are some qualities that he asked the officers to carry with them during the six months of the programme.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, IIM Trichy, addressed the esteemed gathering and spoke about the importance of entering the classroom with a fresh mind and learning new things or striving to improve in the domains they are already abreast. He also emphasized the need to go the extra mile and put more effort than expected by the professors to fully enjoy the programme and imbibe the learnings in themselves better.
Dr. Prashant Gupta, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consulting, gave a brief of IIM Trichy as an institute and the programmes offered. He further explained how the certificate programme is an experience co-learning programme aimed at making the officers adapt to management.
Prof. Gopal V., Programme Director, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the program participants and welcomed them to the IIM Trichy fraternity. He also extended his wishes for the enriching journey ahead and hoped that the officers and the faculty could mutually learn. Prof. Vijaya V., Programme Director, delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude towards all and wished the participants success. The inaugural event concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph.
