IIM Trichy conducted Valedictory Function for the 1st batch of the Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Strategic Management (PGCSM)
Trichy: We are happy to inform you that IIM Trichy conducted the valedictory function of its first batch of the Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Strategic Management (PGCSM) on 26th December 2021. The one-year weekend programme was designed with the right blend of academic and practitioner inputs to help participants hone specialised competencies in strategic management. The programme was inaugurated in November 2020 and had 79 graduating students.
The function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the presentation of the batch report by Prof. Mukundhan, the programme director. He highlighted the regional diversity of the batch, which included students from 13 Indian states, the UAE, Oman, US, and Ireland. The participants of the batch had an average work experience of 9 years across 32 different industries. Prof. Mukundhan also spoke about the unique features of the programme, and its curriculum and pedagogy, which was designed to nurture both the creative and analytical aspects of strategy formulation and execution. He concluded by emphasizing that the valedictory function was a gathering to celebrate much more than mere academic accomplishments – it was a time to celebrate new friendships and professional connections that will stand the participants in good stead in their careers. The report was followed by virtual certificate distribution to the graduands of the programme.
Following this, Prof. Prashant Gupta, Chairperson, Executive Education, and Counselling, addressed the gathering. In his address, he noted that while all good things come to an end, the learnings from this course will stay forever for the participants. He spoke about how the diversity of the batch helped in enriching the learning experience of the class and commended the participants for dedicating their weekends over the past year to this course. He expressed his hopes to meet the students in person when the current COVID situation improves.
Next, Dr. Nagendra V Chowdary, Head of Academic Relations and Learner’s Success, Times TSW, congratulated the graduating students and appreciated the programme directors for their commitment to the success of the programme. He also stated his appreciation for the partnership between Times TSW and IIM Trichy that helps keep the spirit of learning alive.
The Director of IIM Trichy, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, in his address, offered his appreciation for the students, Dr. Nagendra from Times TSW, the programme directors, faculty, staff members, colleagues, and families of the graduating students. He highlighted that a successful strategic management student must develop unique approaches to look at situations in a holistic, integrative, analytical, and creative manner. He concluded by wishing the student’s health and prosperity in both their personal and professional life.
Prof. Manikandan then announced the merit award winners- Anjan Banerjee, Radhika Awasthi, and Bhaskar Sarat Turaga, for securing the first, second and third rank in the programme respectively. He thanked the TSW team for assisting in the delivery of the course, the Director, faculty, and colleagues in strategy and other areas, the EEC office, the administration, and congratulated the batch on their successful completion of the programme. He also mentioned that the second batch of the PGCSM is scheduled to start in March 2022. The function concluded with the national anthem.
