IIM Trichy conducts Valedictory Function for the 1st batch of Post Graduate Certificate in Executive General Management Programme (e-GMP)
Tiruchirappalli: Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli conducted the valedictory function for the 1st batch of Post Graduate Certificate in Executive General Management Programme (e-GMP) on 16th October 2021. The one-year program aims to assist working professionals build effective business management and decision-making skills, encompassing diverse functions such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, Strategy, and HR management.
The program began on an auspicious note with the lighting of the lamp.
Prof Sivakumar S, e-GMP Programme Director, extended a warm welcome to the graduating batch, faculty members, and technicians in his address. He elucidated the uniqueness of the batch, which has an average work experience of 57 months, regional & academic diversity, as it marks the foray of IIM Tiruchirappalli into the e-Learning space. He reminisced on the inaugural ceremony, which happened a year ago. The program was created with a vision to enable working professionals and budding entrepreneurs gain understanding of business management and make effective business decisions. The programme consists of 13 modules covering various functional disciplines such as data analytics, finance, marketing, operations, strategy, and OB-HR. The one-year programme has a blended pedagogy with 144 hours of content delivered in the direct-to-studio mode and five days of on-campus presence. He congratulated the graduating batch of 109 students for successfully completing the course and presented the certificates virtually.
In his address, Prof Prashant Gupta, Chairperson Executive Education & Consulting, thanked the faculty members, students’ spouses and parents whose support was indispensable for their successful completion of the programme. He congratulated them on this achievement. He recalled how the program was started during the beginning of the pandemic but still overcame the challenges. He thanked former Director, Prof Bhimaraya Metri, and earlier Chairperson EEC, Prof Satish S Maheswarappa for envisioning the e- learning program at IIM Trichy and also thanked both the Programme Directors for designing the e-GMP program. He also thanked current Director Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh for his continued support.
His address was followed by the announcement of the merit award winners who secured the top three ranks, namely:

2. Mohammad Mushaffa Alam
3. Praveen Kumar Meyur Ram
The floor was open to the graduating batch, who took the opportunity to convey how the program helped them run their companies, manage finances, and implement practical marketing tools. Students thanked the professors for providing an enriching learning experience through real-time simulations, case studies, and projects.
Programme Director, Prof Satish S Maheswarappa, appreciated the batch for their dedication and unwavering commitment to the course. In his vote of thanks, he expressed gratitude to students and their family members, Jaro Education for being the technical backbone, Faculty colleagues, IIM Trichy’s IT support team, Learning Resource Centre, the EEC office and all the others for successful completion of the program.
The program concluded with the National Anthem.
