IIMB expert on the impact of COVID-19 on human resource management
Bangalore: The Communications Office and the Student Media Cell of IIM Bangalore launched the IIMB Podcast Series on July 12th, 2020. The podcast series aims to become a platform to discuss the latest business, economic, management, and social issues that matter. The Podcast series, which will run twice a month – on the second and fourth Sunday – will witness IIM Bangalore fraternity, including but not limited to the faculty members, alumni and students, provide their insights and perspectives on the topics and issues that surround us.
The eleventh episode of the series, releasing on December 13th, will feature a conversation with Prof. Vasanthi Srinivisan, Chair, Digital Learning at IIMB and professor in the area of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. Prof. Srinivisan talks about HR, people management issues in the virtual world induced by the COVID – 19 pandemic. She brings her insights about how things have evolved and how individuals can collaborate effectively in the virtual settings.
COVID – 19 has impacted business in more ways than one. One significant impact is the way people work. From face to face interactions over meetings in glass walled conference rooms to staring at each other over patchy virtual calls from the home, things have been altered in big ways. The podcast touches on various aspects such as how sudden change in work culture has affected the well – being of employees and what can organizations do to steer this transition smoothly for the human resources. The episode touches on various aspects such as virtual collaboration, permanent and temporary changes brought in the work environment by the pandemic to the future of the work force and how one should prepare for it.
