Dhenkanal: To commemorate the 56th foundation day of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), its Eastern Regional Campus, Dhenkanal has planned multiple events including a special lecture, panel discussion and Monograph release on Monday, 17 August 2020.
IIMC Dhenkanal has been observing the foundation day of IIMC every year since 1993. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no gatherings on the campus to celebrate the foundation day of IIMC this year, IIMC Dhenkanal Director Dr Mrinal Chatterjee said on Tuesday.
To mark the foundation day, Eastern Regional Campus, Dhenkanal is going to conduct a special lecture on ‘Media and Social Reforms’. Aditya Mohanty, Professor & head of the department at the central university of Tripura will deliver the foundation day lecture this year. Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, Director General of IIMC will grace the opening address of the foundation day. However, the IIMC Dhenkanal Director Dr Mrinal Chatterjee will give the welcome note.
Besides, the institute is also planning to release a monograph titled ‘IIMC Monograph 24 Agriculture Journalism’ to mark the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH). However, the United Nations has declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health. The monograph bundled with 27 articles, including research articles, essays and semi-academic essays written by the journalists, media academicians and research scholars. It is a bilingual monograph and the articles are in English and Odia.

The Eastern Regional Campus, Dhenkanal is also planned to conduct an online panel discussion on ‘Media Education in Digital Age’ to mark the centenary year of Indian media education. The panelists include Monideepa Banerjie, senior journalist NDTV; Prof. BP Sanjay, former director of IIMC; Prof. Ujjwala Barve, SPP University, Pune; Prof. Ankuran Dutta of Guwahati University; IIMC Dhenkanal Director Prof. Mrinal Chatterjee and Smbit Pal, Asst.Prof, IIMC Dhenkanal will also grace the event.
The panel discussion will be followed by a question-answer session, where the audience will be able to put forward their questions to the panelists.
