IISER Bhopal hosts Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp for Innovators

Bhopal : Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal starts the five-day residential bootcamp program on Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) from 22nd to 26th June 2023, being jointly organized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC).

The Bootcamp will be five-day event in which students and faculty members from schools, colleges, and higher education institutes will undergo intensive experimental learning on design thinking, product design, ergonomics, business modelling, and enterprise planning, followed by mentoring and pitching rounds.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, inaugurated the Bootcamp program at COEP, Pune and interacted with all participants from other organizing centres.

While speaking during the inaugural session of the program, Hon’ble Education Minister Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, said “World is changing fast, and India has been making significant strides in terms of innovation and development in recent years. Speaking in English is not the only measure of talent, and there are many talented individuals in India who may not be fluent in English. Now, foreign universities are collaborating with Indian Universities seeing their capabilities. I share my confidence in these young innovators to play a key role in the growth of our country.”

While speaking at IISER Bhopal, Dr. Nikhil Kant, Deputy Director, AICTE, Ministry of Education, Government of India, said, “Today, we gather here to kickstart an extraordinary event that will shape the aspirations of our future innovators and entrepreneurs. The IDE Bootcamp offers an immersive learning experience for students and faculty members from various educational institutes. This reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. I welcome you all to the “Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp” at IISER Bhopal. Let us embark on this journey together, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that will shape the future of our nation.”

The IDE Bootcamp is being organized simultaneously across six locations in India including NITTTR Chennai, COEP Technical University Pune, IISER Bhopal, NITTTR Chandigarh, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Bhubaneswar. About 300 number of participants across the country are participating in the bootcamp hosted at IISER Bhopal.

Talking about IDE Bootcamp, Prof. Raghuvir Singh Tomar, Head Centre for Science and Society, IISER Bhopal, said, “IDE Boot camp initiative of Prime Minister and Education Minister organized by AICTE and hosted by IISER Bhopal has started today. Centre for Science and Society at IISER Bhopal takes this opportunity to welcome all the participants of this activity.”

Participants will have the opportunity to delve into various product design methodologies, foster design thinking concepts, and gain invaluable real-world experience. The program exemplifies the government’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, propelling India towards becoming a global hub for innovation-driven enterprises.

This bootcamp is being organized in coordination with the Wadhwani Foundation, renowned for its support of entrepreneurship education, which will train the participants in product design, ergonomics design thinking and pitching skills to thrive in today’s dynamic business landscape.
