IISM announces ‘The Edge’ a unique course for working professionals

New Delhi: In order to provide working professionals an opportunity to tap their unexplored skills, the International Institute of Sports Management (IISM) has announced the IISM Edge program. The program aims to develop leadership skills and teach the professionals the ‘Art of Losing’ and dealing with failure and also equip them with the necessary skills required to pursue excellence in their careers.

Founded by former Indian Test Cricketer Nilesh Kulkarni and developed by Tarun Chauhan (Ex Managing Partner JWT) and founder of TC Consultancy the course will provide Mid and Senior-level management with in-depth knowledge through lectures and seminars by industry experts in the field of sports and business.

Tarun Chauhan, Founder, TC Consultancy, Celebrated Paralympic Athlete and Arjuna Awardee, Deepa Malik, Ex India Hockey Captain and CEO of Olympic Gold Quest, Viren Rasquinha and CEO of Capstone People Consulting, Dr Sujaya Banerjee will all be a part of the course module.

Speaking on the idea behind the Course, Mr Nilesh Kulkarni, Founder, IISM, said, “All of us at some point in life have faced failures. What matters is, bouncing back and emerging with a triumph. However, people avoid to talk about failures. One must not forget that failures teaches more than success would. This exactly is the backbone of IISM The Edge. This Executive Management program addresses failures and aims to impart corporate and life lessons through multiple perspectives.”

The duration of the course is 9 months and the classes will be conducted in 7-hour sessions on weekends. The Edge will Delve into topics such as Critical Thinking, Science of Data-Driven Decision Making/ Data to Decision, Persuasion and influence, Active and Passive Listening, Conflict Management, How to handle a difficult situation, Time & Stress Management, Body Language, Planning and delivery, Negotiations and Leadership, etc.

Arjuna Awardee Paralympian, Deepa Malik said, “IISM has shown inclusiveness by involving an athlete like me right from the start. I have hit many roadblocks in my life to be dealing with my new body, or learning a new business or sport but I have always bounced back from tough situations and that has helped me grow in life”.

Ex India Hockey Captain and CEO of OGQ, Viren Rasquinha said, “Sports has been a great teacher and I was happy to be associated towards the development of the sport with OGQ. I have applied the skills I learned during my playing days to my professional career”. Speaking on the details of the course he added, “I would like to congratulate IISM and Nilesh for launching The Edge which is a great course as it will teach the candidates to learn from failure which is a very important skill”.

In order to be eligible for the course, the candidate should be a graduate and has to have a minimum experience of 5 years. The Middle management wanting to level up to CEO and COO are also the target audience for the course. The Candidates will be shortlisted by an internal panel and the final candidates will be selected through an in -campus interview.

The admissions for the Edge course are currently on and the first batch is scheduled to start from 1st February 2019.
