IIT Bhubaneswar celebrates Republic Day with patriotic fervour

Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar celebrated the 71st Republic Day in the Institute with patriotic fervour. The function started with unfurling of the National Flag followed by review of the Parade by Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar. The Faculty, Staff, Students and children participated in the celebrations in large numbers.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar reminded that Republic Day commemorates the adoption of Constitution of India which assures its citizens justice, equality and liberty, and endeavours to promote fraternity, the core values the land has been believing in for ages. On this occasion, he called up on everyone at IIT Bhubaneswar to up-hold the values of the Constitution of India in the governance, functioning at work place as well as in day to day life.  He also reminded that the country looks forward towards the IIT’s with high expectation for solving the technological challenges facing it. For the realization of The 5 Trillion $ economy, make in India, fit India, Digital India, Swaccha India dreams it is essential that IITians help is much needed. So far, IITians have always been the flagbearers on a number of fronts and he called upon them to work for development of the country, make it re-live its glorious past and regain its leadership position.  He also emphasized on the need for country’s self-sustainability and economic security through developmental programs like Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), Start-up programs, Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan, creation of incubation centres etc. through Institutions like IITs. He expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for their extensive support to the Institute on all fronts.

The republic day celebrations comprised of march-past, dare-devil performances by the security unit and national cadet corps (NCC) unit of IIT.  This was followed by cultural program put up by the faculty, staff and students of the Institute. Also present during the event were Prof. R.K. Panda, Dean Alumni Affairs & International Relations, Prof. Sujit Roy, Dean Research and Development (R & D), Dr. V.R. Pedireddi, Dean, Student Affairs, Col (Dr) Subodh Kumar, Registrar and Dr. Sankarsan Mahapatro, President, Student Gymkhana, IIT Bhubaneswar.
