IIT Bhubaneswar welcomes new batch of students
Bhubaneswar : Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has welcomed the new batch of students with a great enthusiasm. Separate orientation programs for the students and parents for individual courses and an inspiring talk were organized by the Institute, followed by the admission process for the academic year 2024-25.
During the orientation programs, Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, introduced the new members of the campus to the unique features of IIT Bhubaneswar. Spanning over 936 acres of land, the scenic campus with 50,000 deciduous trees is the 3rd largest among the 23 IITs. Nestled at the base of the historic Barunei hillock, the campus site was the site of the 1817 Paikka Rebellion against British. The majestic dome with mismatched halves atop the administrative building signifies the institute’s policy of acceptance of differences among people. IIT Bhubaneswar has moved beyond knowledge generation, dissemination and application to wealth generation by entrepreneurship and producing quality teachers. Its teachers are trained in active cooperative learning techniques, informed Prof. Karmalkar. Deans and Senior Faculty Members briefed the members about various academic and non-academic facilities of the Institute. The queries and concerns of the students and parents were addressed during these sessions.
The orientation included a talk by a motivational speaker Cdr. V.K. Jaitly (Retd.) on ‘Shaping Your Future in the next 4 years at IIT Bhubaneswar’ on 2nd August 2024. The speaker motivated the students to become a game changer by doing things differently with ‘dedication, determination and discipline’. Dr. Vijayakrishna Kari, Professor-in-Charge (Seminar) coordinated the program.
