IIT Jammu, District Administration Kishtwar Launch Technical Skill Development Program Workshop, Empowering Local Youth

 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, along with District Administration Kishtwar, in presence of Director IIT Jammu, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav, IAS, inaugurated a Technical Skill Development Program workshop. The workshop is aimed at empowering the local youth.

Prof Manoj Singh Gaur encouraged youth to actively participate in the skill program and explore opportunities at IIT Jammu, underscoring the institution’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation.

DC Kishtwar emphasised the crucial role of skill training in diverse sectors such as tourism, agro-based industries, freelance work, and non-programming app development, aligning with market demands.

Prof Vijay Lakshmi Gaur provided valuable insights into AI’s transformative role in daily life, with a specific focus on ChatGPT and its future prospects. This underscores the significance of integrating AI advancements into various applications to enhance functionality and user experiences.

Dr Amitash Ojha shed light on the contemporary relevance of skill programs, emphasising their enduring benefits. His insights underscored the importance of such initiatives in addressing current societal needs while also highlighting their long-term impact on individual growth and economic prosperity.

The formal signing of an MoU between Director IIT Jammu and DC Kishtwar symbolised a mutual commitment to advancing skill development initiatives.

Simultaneously, the unveiling of the workshop brochure offered comprehensive information about the event’s objectives, guiding participants towards a clearer understanding of the program’s offerings and potential impact.

Among others, the workshop was attended by Assistant Director, Employment, Shafqet Ali Keen, JKAS; Satish Thakur, Assistant Professor, Botany GDC Kishtwar; Vinod Shant, Employment Officer Kishtwar, and over 60 participants. The workshop aimed to equip Kishtwar’s youth with skills for future success, fostering socio-economic empowerment and regional development.
