IIT Jammu: DST India, NSTC Taiwan Jointly Approve Dr Satya’s Research Project

In a significant stride towards advancing renewable energy solutions, Dr B Satya Sekhar, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, has begun on a collaborative research endeavor with Prof Jenn-Kun Kuo from the Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Research Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This ambitious joint project, titled “Renewable Energy Storage based on Reversible PEM Fuel Cell for Grid Applications,” has garnered approval from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India, and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan.

In today’s era, energy storage stands as a pivotal component of renewable energy systems. The rapid expansion of renewable energy sources presents a unique opportunity for revolutionizing energy storage practices, thereby enhancing the integration of renewable energy within India. The collaborative project spearheaded by Dr Satya and Prof Jenn-Kun Kuo adopts a comprehensive approach towards developing an efficient renewable energy storage solution founded on the principles of a reversible Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), tailored specifically for grid applications.

This pioneering project encapsulates the essence of cross-border cooperation in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. By leveraging the expertise of both Indian and Taiwanese researchers, the collaboration seeks to unlock new dimensions in renewable energy storage technology. Dr Satya’s insights from IIT Jammu, combined with the expertise of Prof Jenn-Kun Kuo’s Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Research Laboratory, hold the promise of reshaping the landscape of energy storage.

As the project sets its course, it is anticipated to yield innovative advancements that will significantly contribute to India’s renewable energy integration goals. The research initiative is not only a testament to the shared commitment of India and Taiwan in addressing global energy challenges but also a beacon of hope for a greener and more sustainable future.
