IIT Jodhpur conducts IUMRS-ICA International Conference 2022 in collaboration with Materials Research Society of India
JODHPUR : Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur is conducting the International Union of Materials Research Society – International Conference in Asia – 2022 (IUMRS-ICA-2022) from 19th to 23rd December 2022. This year the IUMRS ICA 2022 is being organized by the Material Research Society of India (MRS-I) and IIT Jodhpur. This is an exciting platform to exchange high-quality ideas and cutting-edge scientific research by the researchers and scientists from both academia and industries. The aim of the conference is to help all the stakeholders, including students and researchers for networking and collaborations. Around 900 participants are expected to attend this conference across all IITs, IISc, IISERs, DRDO, CSIR and DAE institutes.
This conference has been a wonderful and exciting platform for exchange of high-quality ideas and cutting-edge scientific research by the researchers and scientists from both academia and industries. The scientists actively engaged in research of materials and devices would greatly benefit and gain deeper academic insights enabling developments beneficial to the society at large. The detailed program of the event is now available online: http://iumrs.iitj.ac.in/?page_id=19.
Some of the eminent speakers attending IUMRS-ICA 2022 conference include Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare, President, Indian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Chennupati Jagadish, President, Australian Academy of Science Prof. S B Krupanidhi, President, Materials Research Society of India and Prof. Rodrigo Ferrão De Paiva Martins, President, IUMRS and European Academy of Science, among others.
Highlighting the need and significance of material research, Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, said, “Material science provides significant scientific implementation not only in industry but also in our day-to-day life. IIT Jodhpur has a very vibrant material research group consisting of multidisciplinary researchers who aim to solve real-life problems for future applications. IUMRS-ICA 2022 will motivate researchers across the globe to initiate and implement ideas in materials science research areas.”
Addressing the academicians and researchers during IUMRS-ICA 2022, Prof. SB Krupanidhi, President, Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), said, “Material science is a community where all other scientific fields like physics, chemistry, and biology are contributing together for the development of society. As a researcher, instead of working for publications, one should be more concerned about societal growth, where material science works as a connecting bridge to achieve all these aspects.”
The topics of the IUMRS-ICA-2022 consists of the emerging and cutting edge R&D materials, devices, and related applications with various functional materials for Semiconductors, Energy, Organic and Flexible, 2D, Graphene and Beyond Graphene, III-V and II-VI, Computational, Optoelectronic, Biodegradable, Biomaterials, Soft, Nature Inspired, Neuro-inspired, Quantum Computing, Sensing, Emerging Memory, Biomedical, Hybrid and Biomass, Advanced Structural; and related Processing Strategies, Advanced Fabrication and Characterization, and other Materials-Related Interdisciplinary Areas.
Some of the distinguished “Materials Research Society of India (MRSI)” awardees this year are:
· Judith Driscoll, Cambridge University, UK (MRSI Silver Jubilee International Medal)
· G U Kulkarni, JNCASR, India (CNR Rao Prize Lecture in Advanced Materials)
· D D Sarma, IISC, India (Distinguished Materials Scientist of the Year Award)
· Kulamani Parida, Centre for Nanoscience and Technology, India (MRSI Materials Science Annual Prizes)
· Tata Narasinga Rao, ARCI, HYDERABAD, INDIA (MRSI Materials Science Annual Prizes)
· And MRSI Medal Lectures
The ultimate aim of IUMRS-ICA-2022 is to provide great opportunity for the academicians, researchers and scientists to gain not only the academic insights but also the diverse Indian culture and life styles which will be eventually broadened to the Asian cultures by the participants coming from all over the Asian countries. The conference will provide a platform for the Asian scientists to present and deliberate cutting edge research and development in the field of materials science and forge international collaboration.

About IIT Jodhpur
The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur was established in 2008, to foster technology education and research in India. The institute is committed to technological thought and action to benefit the economic development of India. Scholarship in teaching and learning; scholarship in research and creative accomplishments; and relevance to industry are three driving forces for us at IIT Jodhpur.
IIT Jodhpur functions from its sprawling residential Permanent Campus of 852 acres on National Highway 65, North-Northwest of Jodhpur towards Nagaur. This campus is meticulously planned and envisioned to stand as a symbol of academics. A large parcel of the Permanent Campus (of about 182 acres) is set aside for the development of a Technology Park to strengthen institute-industry interactions.
The institute is committed to a multidisciplinary approach of technology development. Hence, it has established state-of-the-art laboratories for basic research and has organized its academic degree activities through Departments and its coordinated research through Centres for Technologies.
