IIT Kanpur’s new eMasters degree programme in Financial Technology and Management to help boost India’s Fintech projections
Kanpur : New-age technologies like Big Data, and IoT and advancements like digitization are disrupting traditional industries. The new era of banking with technology has taken FinTech Management by storm. Technology has made finance management not just easy but accessible to people living in any corner of the country with just a click. With over 20 unicorn startups in fintech, India saw a three-fold increase in funding for fintech startups last year. This exponential growth is expected to catapult the funding up to USD 215 billion by 2030, in turn, opening a plethora of job opportunities for IT and finance professionals.
To build a robust fintech system in the country and prepare the professionals to navigate through the impending changes, IIT Kanpur has launched an eMasters degree in Financial Technology and Management. This programme will equip professionals with both theoretical and practical capabilities to navigate the fintech revolution. Professionals opting for this programme will receive mentorship from the esteemed IIT Kanpur faculty and get an opportunity to interact with industry experts from RBI and its associate institutions, along with other financial institutions. As a key programme outcome, professionals will be able to make strategic decisions to solve real-world fintech challenges in different situations.
This executive-friendly programme offers working professionals the flexibility to complete the eMasters degree between 1-3 years, without pausing their careers. The 60-credit, 12-module industry-focused curriculum is designed by the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering. One does not require a GATE score to apply for the programme. It also offers a credits transfer facility where a waiver of up to 60 credits can be transferred for higher education (MTech/PhD) at IIT Kanpur.
The weekend-only live interactive classes coupled with self-learning allow professionals a healthy pace to learn and catch up. Besides the uniquely tailored immersive learning format of the programme, the participants also get access to the IIT Kanpur placement cell, incubation centre, and alumni network, adding up to a rich career advancement and networking experience.
