IIT Madras launches Wellness Survey Program
Being carried out under the aegis of National Health Mission (NHM), Govt. of Tamil Nadu, an independent agency has been engaged to reach out to all students, staff and faculty of the institute
CHENNAI : Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched a wellness survey today (4th May 2023) with the objective of reaching out to the stakeholders in the campus.
The survey is being carried out by an independent agency which will get in touch with all students, staff, and faculty of the institute. The survey will be undertaken under the aegis of the National Health Mission (NHM), Govt. of Tamil Nadu. More than 30 counsellors are being deployed for this survey. The survey process involves a one-to-one conversation with a well-qualified wellness specialist assigned by the NHM.
Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, inaugurated the wellness program. Simultaneously, Prof. Kamakoti has also started a unique initiative of ‘Kushal Program’ to bridge a close association of individual students with faculty, for their wellness.
Highlighting the importance of this exercise, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said “Happiness is a collective responsibility. IIT Madras is committed to work towards ensuring the wellness of all in her campus. The independent wellness survey is one of the important steps taken in this direction. I thank the NHA, Government of Tamil Nadu, for helping us in this effort.”
The Institute has also launched a ‘Be Happy’ Website – https://behappy.iitm.ac.in/ – to engage with the students.
