IIT Mandi and Embassy of the Republic of Korea to explore potential collaborations on academic and research programs

Dr. Y J Park, Director, Indo-Korean Center for Research and Innovation, New Delhi, and Shri Hyo Hee Lee, the Science and Technology attaché at the embassy of the Republic of Korea, visited IIT Mandi to explore potential collaborations with Koreans Universities

Mandi : Dr. Y J Park, Director, Indo-Korean Center for Research and Innovation (IKCRI), New Delhi, and Shri Hyo Hee Lee, the Science and Technology attaché at the embassy of the Republic of Korea, recently visited IIT Mandi. This 2-day trip includes discussions on potential collaborations between IIT Mandi and the Korean Universities that can contribute to the Institute’s vision of serving the stakeholders of both communities via technological interventions and research. During their campus tour, Dr. Park and Mr. Lee visited multiple state-of-the-art labs including MANAS Lab, ACS Lab and Advanced Materials Research Centre, BioX Centre, Centre for Design and Fabrication of Electronic Devices (C4DFED), and IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation (iHub) and interacted with the students and researchers at the respective facilities.

While meeting the Institute’s Director, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Dr. Park, and Mr. Lee discussed the Korean Ambassador’s visit to India, to participate in the Institute’s colloquium as well as to sign an MoU between IIT Mandi and Yonsei University College of Medicine.

Expressing his gratitude towards the Institute’s guests, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, said, “It is a pleasure to connect with the IKCRI through this visit of Dr. Y.J. Park and Mr. Hyo Hee Lee. IIT Mandi shares a common vision to encourage scientific institutions, the academic community, and young experts to cooperate through joint coordinated efforts in innovative work to foster advancements for advantageous turn of events.”

Speaking about his visit to IIT Mandi, Dr. Y.J. Park Director, IKCRI, New Delhi, said, “It was a great pleasure to meet the Director Pror. Laxmidhar Behera, Prof. Varun Dutt, Prof. Chayan Nandi, and other faculty members during our campus visit. We are overjoyed by the two-day visit to see the research work for upcoming inventions duly carried out by the IIT Mandi in the field of Information Technology, Biotech, and much more. It was great to have the experience and observe the research projects such as landslide alarm systems, cognitive research in artificial intelligence, VR methodology, etc. After visiting the IIT Mandi campus it seems that together we can do much more to achieve our common goal with a high level of efficacy.”

IKCRI promotes collaborative research between India and the Republic of Korea. It coordinates a common platform to connect the India Korea Science, Technology, and Innovation ecosystem while conducting regular bilateral meetings to provide benefits and necessary support for both communities. Dr. Park’s visit is a promising opportunity for IIT Mandi and IKCRI to establish a connection through joint collaborations in research and development to develop technologies for the symbiotic development of both communities.
