IIT Roorkee MSME and MDS IndoCan jointly organizes “Role of Startups, MSMEs and corporates” workshop
Roorkee : Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) , MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and MDS IndoCan have jointly taken a novel initiative to bring talents from academics, industry and commercialization sectors together through a workshop “India’s G20 Presidency: Role of Startups, MSMEs and corporates for Atmanirvar Bharat” on April 20, 2023. The rich and diverse research/academic environment of IIT Roorkee and the pool of young talents available need to be nurtured with a professional outlook so that projects being taken up in IIT Roorkee finally lead to a startup or a small industry. Further, Saharanpur being a potential marketplace and industry hub, this workshop at the SRE campus will catalyze such vision of Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee. The workshop was graced by eminent personnel from industry and academia.
MSME Minister, Shri Rakesh Sachan, expressed his best wishes for this workshop and assured his all-around support through the UP ministry for the prosperity of IIT Roorkee and MSME sectors. Director IOCL Faridabad also participated in this workshop and expressed his willingness to support IIT Roorkee and MSME sectors in all possible ways.
Dr. Sujay Chattopadhyay, Dean-Saharanpur Campus said, This workshop has set an open platform of close interaction between startup and MSME sectors and connect them with corporate and government machinery for faster growth of all sectors.
Dr. Subrokamal Dutta, Political economic and Foreign policy expert said, This workshop focusing startups, MSMEs and corporate sectors and their role in Nation building in the tenure of India’s G20 presidency will bring all sectors together and tremendously promote export in addition to setting up road map for the future. The New Education Policy of Gov. of India promotes open education for children and encourages the exploration of young minds towards entrepreneurship. Therefore, this is the right opportunity for IITR to encourage such activity and act as a catalyst for the prosperity of IITR and different industry sectors.
Shri Pawan Agarwal, Joint Export Commissioner, Gov. of UP said, “This common platform will help promote interaction, exchange of ideas, and setting up a road map for the future. IIT Roorkee will be instrumental in encouraging open discussion, exchanging ideas, and supporting all stakeholders for their prosperity.”
Dr. SSV Ramakumar, Director (R&D), Indian Oil Corp. Ltd., said, IOCL a corporate giant is constantly involved in facilitating growth of MSME sectors in India. Several initiatives from IOCL have mutually benefited both IOCL and MSME sectors in creating new job opportunities and cost reduction. He congratulated IITR and MDS Indocan for taking this novel initiative through this workshop.
While talking about the workshop, Prof K K Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, said, “This initiative from IIT Roorkee, MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME), in association with MDS IndoCan Ottawa Canada during India’s G20 presidency tenure, is going to shape and strengthen global architecture and governance. The rich and diverse research facilities, young talents, and culture of IIT Roorkee can successfully address various challenges being encountered by different sectors and make them ready for the global market.” This workshop will bring awareness about the potential of MSME sectors and various incentives being given by Gov. of India for the empowerment of underprivileged women as future entrepreneurs of our country.
