IIT Roorkee signed an MoU with APL Apollo Tubes Limited
Roorkee: IIT Roorkee signed an MoU with APL Apollo Tubes Limited at the IIT Roorkee campus.
The objective of this memorandum of understanding is to promote interaction between IITR and APL Apollo in mutually beneficial areas
The event was attended by Mr. PK Singh – Executive Director, Mr. Rohit Kapur – Senior General Manager – Business Development, Mr. Atul Kumar Dubey – Manager – Corporate HR from APL Apollo Tubes Limited and Prof. Manish Shrikhande – Dean SRIC, Prof. Pravindra Kumar – ADCI and Prof. Jeevanandam – ADII from IIT Roorkee.
As a part of the MoU, both the institutions shall sponsor student projects/fellowships in two years M.Tech and four-year B.Tech degree programs at IIT Roorkee.
They shall also sponsor R&D projects which may be carried out wholly at IITR or at premises of APL Apollo or partly at IIT Roorkee and partly at APL Apollo. There shall also be the training of APL Apollo employees through continuing education programme conducted by IIT Roorkee in areas of interest to APL Apollo.
Furthermore, APL Apollo shall provide job opportunities to final year students basis of their performance.
Talking about the collaboration Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi – Director IIT Roorkee said “IIT Roorkee and APL Appolo Tubes will be working together for the development of new products and technologies. We are looking forward to sharing our resources and R & D in order to benefit both of us. Furthermore, we believe this MoU signing shall lead to more opportunities for our students.”
Mr. PK Singh, Executive Director, APL Apollo said, “This MoU will benefit both the partners by providing one-of-a-kind opportunity to work together and leverage their respective strengths to embrace latest technical breakthroughs in steel pipes manufacturing. By 2030 the capacity of steel production is expected to grow three-fold. This will generate employment in the country which will support other industries also and boost up the economy. This tie-up is aimed at generating more consumption with the best resources provided by APL Apollo and the latest technological expertise acquired through by joining hands with IIT Roorkee.”
The intellectual property created through this collaboration will be jointly owned by APL and IIT Roorkee.
