IIT Roorkee signed an MoU with the National Institute of Hydrology

Roorkee: On 14th November 2019, at 5 pm IIT Roorkee signed an MoU with the National Institute of Hydrology.

By recognizing the importance of research and development in the areas of Hydrology, Hydropower and Water Resources and appreciating the need for creation of large reservoir of highly qualified manpower in all fields related to Hydrology and Water Resources, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Nuclear Physics, Geology, Geophysics and Hydrometeorology, both the institutes have decided to form a nucleus to promote excellent quality manpower with a focus on Hydrology, Water Resources and related sciences.

The event was attended by the Director, Deputy Director and Dean SRIC of IIT Roorkee and Director of NIH.

On the MoU signing Prof. Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director IIT Roorkee said “This MoU will enable enhanced research collaboration between the two institutions. We had been working on it for quite some time. I am delighted that today the MoUs have also been signed.”

“Roorkee has a long and rich heritage of R&D work in the field of hydrology and water resources. The MoU with IIT Roorkee will further strengthen the bonds between the two institutions. I am sure that together we will be able to provide sustainable and innovative solutions to the problems in water sector” said Dr. Sharad K. Jain, Director of NIH.

As a part of the MoU, both the institutes shall share their important R&D equipment facilities on the mutually agreed terms. Both the Institutes have also agreed to conduct joint conferences/ workshops/training courses in areas of mutual interest. Furthermore, Regular Scientists and Research student/ Candidate working full time in an R&D Project at NIH may be registered for M.Tech./Ph.D. at IIT Roorkee.

The two organizations have already-in-place a Co-ordination Committee to co-ordinate and monitor the collaboration between the two organizations.

This MoU shall be valid initially for a period of three years from today’s date and can be extended for further periods by mutual consultations.
