IIT Roorkee wins the CBIP Award-2018 for the‘Best R&D Institute in Water Resources Sector’
New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee has been awarded the Central Board of Irrigation & Power Award 2018 (CBIP – 2018) for ‘Best R&D Institute in Water Resources Sector’. Prof. Manoranjan Parida, Dean Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC), IIT Roorkee; Prof. Arun Kumar, Professor, Alternate Hydro Energy Centre, IIT Roorkee; Dr. Surendra Kumar Mishra, Professor, Department of Water Resources Development and Management (WRDM), IIT Roorkee and Dr. N.K Goel, Bharat Singh Chair for Water Resources and Professor, Department of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee received the CBIP award today at SCOPE Convention Centre, Scope Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on the occasion of CBIP-Day celebration.
IIT Roorkee received this award for its excellent contribution in research and development support for accelerated development of water resources sector in the country. The jury considered the relevance and significance of the work done during the last three years, particularly, innovation in concept, technology, tangible and intangible impacts, scope of replicability of practices/model by common people, institution, etc. in water resources sector.
Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Hon’ble Ministers of State, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation; Shri. Girish Mahajan, Minister for Water Resources, Govt. of Maharashtra; Shri. Pushpendra Singh, Minister of energy, Govt. of Rajasthan; Shri. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India and Shri. Upendra Prasad Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, graced the occasion by their presence.
Speaking about the award, Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee said, “It is a great honor for the Institute to receive this prestigious award from Shri. Nitin Jairam Gadkari. IIT Roorkee has always been actively involved in research, development in the areas of water resources development, hydropower, and irrigation water management along with providing consultancy services in the fields of irrigation, flood control, drainage, groundwater development and water quality. The significant contributions of the faculty and the hard work of every member from the team has contributed towards our success in this field and culminated into the institute receiving the award and recognition for its work.”
