IIT Ropar breaks previous three years’ placement record
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is ending its most successful placement season in the past four years with over 82% students placed successfully. This placement season saw an increase in the number of students opting for placements from campus as well as the number of companies participating in the placement process. A total of 95 students registered for placements this year, 42 companies came to campus for recruitments and there was 1 international placement.
Premier companies like Infosys, Amazon, Arista Networks, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, L&T Construction, Saavn, Timetooth Technologies, Vehant Technologies were some of the major recruiters this year. Public-Sector Undertaking companies (PSU) like Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Bharat Dynamics Limited also participated in the recruitment process. Alongside them, a large number of first time recruiters like SML Isuzu, Deloitte, Takshashila Consulting, DEShaw, Directl, BookMyShow, Tesco, Smartpix, Chegg India also took part in this year’s placements. International companies like Works Applications and Tonichi Insatsu Co. Ltd. also took part in the process.
Speaking about the successful placement season, Prof. Sarit Kumar Das, Director, IIT Ropar said, “IIT Ropar’s enhancement in academic performance and growing national stature has resulted in a steady increase in placements. This year, majority of our students were placed in core engineering companies which is a sign of our academic quality. We will soon be launching a Centre for Career Development for our students, which will help in developing their potential for the job market, as well as encourage them to become potential entrepreneurs and participate in our recently formed Technology Business Incubator (TBI) subsidiary.”
