IMI, New Delhi welcomed its new batch 2017-2019 at the inauguration ceremony
New Delhi: International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi, the best private B-school in India by NIRF 2016, MHRD, welcomed its new batch of 2017-2019 through a wonderful inauguration ceremony at their Delhi campus. The ceremony was graced by the presence of our Director-General, Dr.Debashis Chatterjee, Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi, Dean – Academics and Alumni Relations, Dr. V. Chandra, Program Chair(PGDM), Dr. Deepak Tandon, Program Chair(B& FS) and our esteemed chief guest for this occasion, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, MP, Rajya Sabha & Former Union Minister.
The ceremony commenced with the dignitaries lighting the lamp of education, after which Dr. Chaturvedi, Dr. Chatterjee and Dr. Subramanian Swamy were presented with bouquets as a token of gratitude from the institute. Dr. Chaturvedi in his speech welcomed the new batch introducing them to their role ahead in their two- year stay with IMI, New Delhi. He also encouraged the new batch to unlock their potential and unleash their talent to the doors of personal and professional excellence, with the “will to win, the desire to succeed and the urge to reach full potential”. Dr. Chaturvedi’s speech was succeeded by Dr. Chatterjee’s impetus on “Flexpertise” towards the students, in which he emphasised the need for flexibility in the present chaotic management system. He also urged the new students to “chose the pain of conviction, not the path of fear disguised as pragmatism” in their quest of creating value for themselves and their career.
The honourable chief guest, Dr. Swamy was welcomed by Dr. Chandra to the stage. Dr. Swamy, in his enlightening speech, praised the Indian ability to perform and outclass amongst various diaspora across the globe and stressed on the need for growing innovation and developing and fostering independent thinking in the post-independence era. Dr. Swamy advised the new students to foster risk-taking in their DNA and let go of the fear of failure, as the mind is the most fertile in the present age to gain knowledge and connect to the world outside. He also raised the important issue of restoring the status of women in our society, where he emphasised how in a knowledge economy, equality is a must.
The ceremony came to an end with the Dr. Chatterjee presenting a memento to the chief guest, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, for taking out his valuable time to address the students and blessing them with his wishes, wisdom and guidance. The students will surely kickstart their journey of two years with the key lesson of never being disappointed with failures and keeping the spirit of conformity, acceptability within them towards the path of success.
