IMM Jammu holds Expert Panel Discussion on recognizing Stages of Addiction to mark Intl Day against Drug Abuse

 

JAMMU : IIM Jammu organized an Expert Panel Discussion on Recognizing the Stages of Addiction: Early Intervention and Prevention Strategies to mark observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The session featured Dr. Arati Chowdhary, Oral Physician and Dental Oncologist at SRJ CBCC Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Pallavi Singh, Program Director, JK Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses, Dr. Pawan Gupta Director, Surgical Oncology, Max Healthcare, and moderated by Dr. Niti Shekar, Assistant Professor, Business Policy, Strategy & Entrepreneurship, IIM Jammu.

The panel discussion provided a comprehensive understanding of addiction and equipped participants with the necessary knowledge to recognize early signs. It delved into the importance of early intervention and exploring effective prevention strategies.

All the panelists provided detailed insights into the negative effects of Tobacco, Smoking, Drugs, Alcohol, etc, and sensitized the students on the negative impacts caused by addiction. They also emphasized the role every person can play to stop youngsters from creating awareness about the harmful effects caused by such products. They also reiterated the need for the creation of Youth Clubs and Tobacco Martials in Society for increased awareness among the youth. The panelists quoted practical real-life examples and put forward an interesting session.

The Institute received active participation from students, faculty, officers, and staff of IIM Jammu. The panel discussion strived to create awareness and contribute to the mission of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) organized by the Government of India.

The event was coordinated by Digi Health Club part of the Student Affairs of IIM Jammu. The session was followed by Q & A by the students at the Institute. The event ended on a positive note with a pledge to make the Nation Addiction free.
