IMT Hyderabad concludes the annual sports competition, virtually
Hyderabad: IMT Hyderabad takes great pride in the success of its recently concluded annual sports fest PERIODOS 8.0 sponsored by Chessathon. The two-day sports fiesta organized by IMT Hyderabad on the 20th & 21st of February became a sensation with many moments of glory. In its 8th year since its inception, the event was held seamlessly with high enthusiasm and fervour in the digital mode.
Altius, the sports club of IMT Hyderabad, in coordination with the Periodos team, organized a plethora of online gaming events. The two-day sports carnival witnessed enormous participation with 57+ management colleges and 500+ registrations across India, including IIM Raipur, IIT Kharagpur, KJSCE Mumbai, SCMHRD Pune, to name a few. All the events rendered the participants a unique platform and exposure to showcase their gaming skills.
Commenting on the successful conclusion of the event, Ayush Agarwal, coordinator at Periodos 8.0 said “Organising an e-games event itself is a challenge and having 57+ colleges participating in it raises the stakes to another level. I am grateful to my teammates who helped to make Periodos 8.0 a huge success”
Shashwat Jhunjhunwala, coordinator at Periodos 8.0 added “Periodos 8.0 has been a result of tremendous dedication and hard work! I would like thank the sports club of IMT-H for being so helpful! Even though things were not normal and I’m glad that the whole responded well and came up with new ideas and solutions made Periodos 8.0 possible!”
The drive, passion, and performance upheld the game’s true spirit and was received well by the audience. The determination to win amongst participants made the event an exhilarating one. The students, participants, and faculty cheered on all the events and enjoyed the show alike. The winners of the events were rewarded with cash prizes, accolades, and certificates.
The inaugural day comprised the opening ceremony followed by gaming events, namely Poker and league stage matches of Valorant and Dota II. The first day ended with teams completing league stage matches of Valorant & Dota II and teams clinching the top two ranking spots entering the finale.
The second and final day witnessed gaming events such as COD, Among Us, Chess & the finale of Valorant, Dota II. The two-day signature extravaganza of competition, games, and emotions ended with the declaration of winners.
The show ended on a grand note with the closing ceremony and scintillating performances from Antragna, the cultural club of IMT Hyderabad. The event’s success is attributed to the hard work and perseverance of the organizing team of PERIODOS along with the faculty mentor and Chairperson, Student Activity Cell, Prof (Dr.) Rambalak Yadav. As much as the cultural club’s performance pumped up the energy to conclude PERIODOS 8.0 on a high note, the organizing committee and students felt nostalgic as they bid farewell to another spectacular event.
