Imtiyaz Memorial GDC Shopian conducts Naat recitation event

SHOPIAN : The Debates and Seminars Committee of Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian today organized a Na’at recitation event for students of the college.

The programme was attended by a large number of staff and students.

Prof. Bashir Ahmad Dar, Principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme started with recitations of the holy verses of Quran by a faculty member.

Speaking at the event, Prof. B A Dar emphasized the need for students to take such programmes seriously and try to follow the path of the beloved Prophet Muhammmad(PBUH) in their lives as laid down in the Quran and Prophetic traditions. ‘Love for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the corner stone of our faith’ he averred.

Prof. Shahnawaz Ahmad, Convenor Debates and Seminars Committee welcomed the chief guest, staff and students and briefly spoke about the objectives of conducting such programmes.

The audience was treated to enthralling and spiritually uplifting performances by the student participants’ majority of them were girl students.

Danish Rehman from BG 2nd Semester bagged the first prize, Bisma Maqbool from BG 2nd Semester bagged the second and Aqila Jan, from BG 2nd Semester bagged the third position. The winners were honoured with trophies, certificates and prize money. Consolation prizes were distributed among the rest of the student participants.

The programme ended on a vote of thanks to all which was presented by Prof. Waheed Ahmad, Co-Convenor, Debates and Seminars Committee.
