In the name of secularism, youths were kept away from yoga: Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

 

Delhi: Towards the countdown to the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, the India Centre for Policy Research and Development (ICPRD) organized the seminar at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. The event was addressed by some of the foremost thought leaders of the country. The idea behind the event is to look at the remarkable journey of our country since independence and set an agenda for the future by the distinguished participants.

Distinguished speakers attending the seminar include Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of “The Art of Living”, Dr. Karan Singh, scholar, and statesmen & Former Union Minister, Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Member of Parliament; Union Ministers, and Shyam Jaju, political leader, and many others.

The Founding President of ICPRD Kr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh elaborated on the vision of the organization, and its role in the contemporary context that will come to play in the policymaking landscape and its implementation at both the Central and state level.

Sharing the speech on peace of mind, Gurudev, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar said, “State of mind completely depends on the happiness of the person, make the mind free from all the thoughts and give freedom. Youth are away from Yoga on the basis of Secularism. The mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’ joins the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, this is the power of India. The pandemic has taught us the lesson of mental peace, therefore everyone should keep themselves healthy as mental health is the biggest challenge.”

While commenting on Food security, MoS for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Chobey said, “The Indian Government launched many ‘Yojna’ or programmes for citizens and farmers; giving food security to all their nation’s people.”

Closing remarks were given by the renowned columnist and social commentator Dilip Cherian who sum up the main points made in the seminar by the distinguished speakers.
