Inaugural Ceremony of Observance Vigilance Awareness Week 2023
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week is taken up to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.
The Central Vigilance Commission has the mandate under the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003 to fight corruption and to ensure integrity in public administration. It is charged with monitoring all vigilance activities under the Central Government and advising various authorities in Central Government and organizations under it, in planning, executing and reviewing their vigilance work in order to bring out systemic improvement in governance. In addition, the Commission with its outreach activities also endeavours to create awareness amongst the common man, especially the youth, towards the policy of achieving transparency, accountability and corruption free governance.
MNIT celebrated the inaugural ceremony of Vigilance Awareness week on 23 January 2023 at 5 PM in the Malaviya Sabhagar (Prabha Bhawan). The programme saw the presence of eminent guests viz. Prof. N.P. Padhy, Director MNIT, Prof. G.S. Dangayach, Chief Vigilance Officer, Prof. M. M. Sharma, the Registrar, and several members of faculty and staff. The programme commenced with welcome of the dignitaries on the dais. Prof. G.S. Dangayach, CVO, shared his insightful thoughts on the importance of the occasion and also elaborated the ways to maintain integrity in all walks of life. He exhorted everyone to follow moral values in all spheres of their life. Prof. N. P. Padhy detailed on integrity and self discipline. He stressed on the importance of leading a simple and honest life. He also motivated all students to participate wholeheartedly in all competitions taking place during the week. Prof. M. M. Sharma, Registrar, proposed a formal vote of thanks and shared some anecdotes of his life pertaining to honesty and integrity.
The pledge available on CVC official portal was taken by the entire audience present in the ceremony. The programme was compered by Dr. Niraja Saraswat, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences and was coordinated by Prof. G.S. Dangayach, Mrs. Suman Rathore, Dr. Niraja Saraswat, and Mr. Raj Kumar Dubey. The programme came to an end with recitation of National Anthem. Refreshment was also served at the end of the programme.
Several activities including debate, slogan, poster competition are scheduled in the week along with a panel discussion by eminent personalities in diverse fields.
