Bhubaneswar: 71st Independence Day has been celebrated in KIIT University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). Prof. Sudarshan Nanda, acting VC, KIIT University hoisted the National Flag in KIIT while, Dr. B. N. Nanda, Senior most Economic Advisor, Govt of India and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and broadcasting hoisted the National Flag in KISS and took salute. Addressing the students he remembered the role of great Tribal freedom fighters like Birsa Munda and Laxman Nayak. Everybody should cooperate and support in the development of our country, he added. You should respect your parents, teachers and elders and you should have developed a sacrificing mentality, he advised the students.
Among others Smt. Saswati Bal, President, KIIT & KISS; Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS, Dr. P.K. Routary, CEO, KISS; Dr. P. K. Das, Director, KISS were also present during the occasion. After flag hoisting March-past was performed by the students of KISS. The students also performed colourful cultural programme. Mr. Ridzal Saat, Mr. Benjamin Van Rooyen, Mr. Aga Hussain, Mr. Mahes Mathai, Mr. Saurav Chatterjee from World, Rugby, Asia Rugby and Rugby India were also joined the Flag hoisting ceremony in KISS. Similarly Independence Day also celebrated in KiiT International School and Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
