Aligarh : The department of Economics, AMU celebrated 75th Independence Day 2022 with students and staff of the department and Dean Office. Many activities were held for students and prize distribution ceremonies of two programmes took place under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in which 86 prizes were distributed.
In Har Ghar Jhanda Program two competitions were held; National Flag Making Competition and Quiz Competition on National Flag. In the National Flag Making, the first prize was won by Mohd Talha, second prize by Deepak Pundir and third prize by Ashwal Huda.
In the Quiz Competition on National Flag, the first prize was won by Nurul Ahad, the second prize was won by Ashwal Huda, third prize was bagged by Himanshu Yadav and 28 students won consolation prizes. Dr Md Qaiser Alam and Dr Shahina Perween jointly conducted the programme.
In another programme number of online competitions under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, held during September 2021 to June 2022 , such as essay writing competition, singing competition of patriotic songs and folk songs, speech, poster making, painting competitions were organised . Programmes were held under the themes Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Vigilance Awareness Week, Matribhasha Diwas, 1st anniversary of AKAM, World Environmental Day.
In all 52 prizes were given; Deepak Pundir and Nida Khan won special prizes for winning maximum prizes in these 14 online competitions. The Dr. Shirin Rais conducted the programme.
Prof Md. Abdus Salam, Chairman, Department of Economics said these memorable moments of 75 years of our Independence celebrations will be engraved in the annals of history. He appreciated Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign and distributed hand waving national flags, flag badges and badges of Har Ghar Tiranga to the participants and audience
Prominent academicians felicitated the students during the prize distribution ceremony. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by more than 125 audiences in the department during Independence Day celebration.
