India Philanthropy Forum launches in London to foster a robust corridor between India and UK towards accelerated social impact in India

 

London  – The inaugural edition of the India Philanthropy Forum 2023 (IPF), anchored by Dasra in collaboration with The British Asian Trust and Indiaspora, is scheduled to take place on November 13, 2023 at Saddlers’ Hall in London, and will be co-chaired by Sonal Sachdev Patel, CEO of GMSP Foundation, and Dr. Nitya Mohan Khemka, Director, PATH.

 

The IPF 2023 is an exclusive platform aiming to build and nurture a social impact corridor between India and the UK as a powerful force leveraging the strengths and collective intelligence across both regions. The Forum will bring together multiple stakeholders within the UK under one roof, for the first-time, to exchange ideas and further inspire collective action towards social impact in India.

 

The inaugural edition in London will feature a line-up of impact-focussed conversations with leading NGO leaders, philanthropists, funders, experts, intermediary agencies and academics. During these discussions on specifically curated India-focused themes that span global insights to on-the-ground stories, these thought leaders will share their lived experiences and perspectives in shaping the philanthropic ecosystem further in both these geographies. Sessions in the Forum will cover diverse themes including gender equity, climate action, empowering grassroots NGO leaders, innovative financing, collaboratives, ecosystem building and family philanthropy.

 

Some of the distinguished speakers at IPF 2023 include Swatee Deepak, a gender specialist, who will be in conversation with Dr. Amita Gupta from the John Hopkins Gupta-Klinsky India Institute, discussing healthcare equity in India. Tom Hall from UBS will lead a conversation on cutting-edge financing models, including venture philanthropy and development impact bonds, with insights provided by Amrita Bhandari from Acumen and more.

 

On ground stories will be shared by NGO leaders from India such as Hameeda Khatoon from Sadbhavna Trust and Nandita and Pradhan Bhatt from Martha Farrell Foundation.

Sonal Sachdev Patel, CEO of GMSP Foundation, who is co-chairing the forum said “The India Philanthropy Forum is a platform to create a robust and enabling ecosystem in which philanthropy can thrive. Nitya Mohan Khemka, Director of PATH, who is also co-chairing the Forum, highlighted the significance of India Philanthropy Forum and said, “Developing a stronger philanthropic corridor requires a strategic approach at many levels.
