Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Bharat Electronics Limited collaborated to introduce the Security Surveillance System

Roorkee: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Bharat Electronics Limited collaborated to introduce “Security Surveillance System”, a system of various camera’s/video’s fitted in a building to record movement of a person on the map along with time, in DEF EXPO 2020 from 5-9 February 2020 at Vrindavan Yojna, Sector 15, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The USP’s of Security Surveillance System is to detect human abnormal behaviour; face identified (Face ID) and fetch data from database in form of person coordinates and track where every immigrant person moves in the premises; red zone movement alert; through IP camera help person coordinates is identified and send it to security system.

Defence manufacturing companies from India and abroad will showcase their products and services in the defence arena on a single platform. The main theme of this year’s event is ‘India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’ and the focus will be on ‘Digital Transformation of Defence’.

Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director IIT Roorkee said, “We are really delighted to collaborate with BEL to introduce Security Surveillance System.”

Prof. Kamal Jain, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Roorkee said, “Great response from different sectors of defence and other agencies partnering with BEL. The value of our recent research has enabled our experts to demonstrate their in-depth understanding of the efficient security surveillance infrastructure. The collaboration with BEL will streamline the operations, improving business efficiency and cutting costs.

The application of Security Surveillance System included location tracking, security purposes, military intelligence (Border-Patrol), suspicious activity detection, use of office administration, navigation in case of satellite images/videos, human intelligence gathering, public and private(prevention of crime, violation of privacy, protection of a process etc, wireless security tracking.

How the system works: Through IP camera we are able to collect coordinates of a person on the images/videos and sent it to the database. The coordinates of a person assist security system to identify human abnormal behaviour and acknowledge that it is a red zone movement alert. Also whenever that suspicious person moves in the premises, it tracks the movement. The coordinates of a person are identified by the IP camera through a face ID methodology. This surveillance system will be a golden hand to the high alert security area such as in defence services, high security to the specific power authorities in private and public domain, airports etc.
