Indian Universities Archery Teams Secures 2nd Position with 6 Medals in the 2nd Asian University Archery Championship 2024.

 

The Indian Universities Archery Team made a remarkable mark at the 2nd Asian University Archery Championship 2024, held from 30th August to 1st September 2024 in Taipei, Chinese Taipei. Competing against top athletes from across Asia, the Indian team clinched an impressive 6 medals (2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 3 Bronze), securing the 2nd position overall in the championship.

Medal Winners:

  1. Tejbeersingh Jahagirdar – Gold Medal in Compound Men
  2. Deepshikha – Gold Medal in Compound Women
  3. Kratika Bichpuriya – Silver Medal in Recurve Women
  4. Tamnna Deshwal – Bronze Medal in Recurve Women
  5. Goldi Mishra – Bronze Medal in Recurve Men
  6. Muskan Kirar – Bronze Medal in Compound Women

KIIT University, recognized for its commitment to promoting sports excellence, was nominated as the Nodal University by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, to conduct the selection trials and coaching camps for the Indian Universities Archery Teams (Men & Women). The trials were held from 12th to 13th July 2024, followed by intensive coaching camps from 18th to 26th August 2024. These preparatory efforts played a pivotal role in shaping the athletes for their successful performance at the championship. The Indian team was guided by Mr. Rajesh Hasdak, Chief Archery Coach, KISS who served as the Chief Coach for the Indian Universities Archery Teams.

Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary (Youth Affairs & Sports), AIU, New Delhi, expressed his happiness with the outstanding results and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to all the players and officials. He also extended his appreciation and gratitude to Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, for his continued dedication to promoting both education and sports. Dr. Sekhon also thanked Prof. Samanta for his unwavering support in hosting the selection trials and coaching camps.

Prof. Achyuta Samanta congratulated the Indian Universities Archery Team on their exceptional performance in Taipei and thanked the Association of Indian Universities for entrusting KIIT University with the responsibility of serving as the Nodal University for these prestigious trials and camps.
