Induction Programme for PhD Students
Aligarh : The department of Computer Science, AMU organized an induction programme for newly- admitted PhD Students (session 2021-2022) to help new students interact with other students and faculty members and acquaint themselves with the ethos and culture of the University. PhD students were informed about the modern research infrastructure available and research related policies and other related practices.
Prof MN Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Computer Applications & Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, chief guest, outlined the characteristics of a good research scholar and also explained in detail the technique in dealing with research problems and the importance of the presentation of research outcomes in quality journals. He also emphasized on the art of good literature review and articulating the research gap as the outcome of the study.
He sensitized the scholars about the research ethics and use of writing assistance tools and the importance of bibliographic and plagiarism-detection tools.
Prof Hoda, being the Editor-in-chief of International Journal of Information Technology, published by Springer, shared his experience of publication process and emphasized the need of translational research having good societal impact
Prof Aasim Zafar, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science briefed about the state-of-the-art research facilities and the services provided by the Department He shared information about various research tools provided by the Maulana Azad and also apprised them about various fellowships available for PhD students.
During the interaction session, students raised many queries to the resource persons.
