Induction programme held for newly admitted students
ALIGARH : The Faculty of Theology, Aligarh Muslim University organized an induction programme for the newly admitted undergraduate students.
The chief guest, Prof. Aasim Zafar, former Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and OSD Development, AMU highlighted the salient aspects of the university life, with special emphasis on the university’s unique cultural ethos and its traditions, which make it a distinct centre of learning among other institutions of higher studies in India.
He urged the students to imbibe the culture of respect for elders and seniors and always behave respectfully and politely.
Earlier, welcoming the students, the Dean, Faculty of Theology, Prof. Tauqeer Alam Falahi encouraged the students to utilize their time smartly and sincerely participate in extra-curricular activities for the overall development of their personality. He said there are a lot of cultural, literary and sports facilities in the university and they should make the best use of these resources for their all-round development.
He urged the students to strive for acquiring knowledge of a wide range, through a multitude of disciplines and consider it a religious duty to do so for the good of society and the nation.
The Chairperson, Department of Shia Theology, Dr. Syed Muhammad Asghar advised the students to listen to their seniors, and adopt what is right and respectfully leave what they consider wrong.
Prof Muhammad Habibullah, Chairperson, Department of Sunni Theology, highlighted the university’s status and said it is a unique place to learn something special that cannot be found anywhere else. He said that AMU is a unique amalgam of tradition and modernity and here science, religion and philosophy go hand-in-hand amicably, focusing on serving humanity without any distinction.
Dr Mehboobur Rahman explained to the students the importance of time in the light of Hadiths, Dr Nadeem Ashraf stressed the importance of senior-junior relationships for developing a brotherly relationship in the university, and Dr Muhammad Asim Khan highlighted the historical values of the university.
Dr. Rehan Akhtar extended a vote of thanks and Dr. Muhammad Nasir helped in organizing the programme.
