Aligarh : The Hospital Infection Control Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) conducted its first Induction Programme recently, for the interns of MBBS Batch 2K18 for sensitizing them for the prevention of healthcare associated infections.
Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent, Prof Rakesh Bhargava emphasised that infection control is a team work, a shared responsibility, multidisciplinary in nature with doctors acting as leaders and torchbearers. Interns being the youngest members of the team should be the pioneers to bring a change in behavioural practices.

The Dean Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Veena Maheshwari said that an infection control programme is considered efficient which, when used appropriately, restricts the spread of infection among patients and staff in the hospital. Infection control prevents or stops the spread of infections in healthcare settings.
Prof. Haris Manzoor Khan, Medical Superintendent said small steps taken appropriately make big changes. He urged all the participants to get vaccinated for Hepatitis B virus as this is the commonest occupational exposure amongst the interns.
