In’l Women’s Day: ICDS Project R.S. Pura hosts Poshan Mahotsav

Jammu: ICDS Project R.S. Pura, under the auspices of Directorate ICDS, J&K hosted “Poshan Mahotsav” under POSHAN Abhiyaan and International Women’s Day.
The event unfolded with the inauguration of Bio Wall/ Vertical Garden, a first of its kind initiative undertaken by any ICDS Project in J&K, which was followed by another unique initiative to reach out to the community by establishment of POSHAN HELPLINE (01923293823), being started on a pilot basis for a period of 15 days for redressing the issues concerning Poshan (Nutrition).
During the event, AWWs showcased various stalls depicting ECCE Material, Toys made from Waste Materials, Model AWC, Food Craft, Food Recipes. One of the stall was exclusively dedicated for Covid-19 Sensitisation wherein importance of Social Distancing/Covid Protocols was exhibited by front line workers on the spot.
Real time cooking demonstration of locally available low cost nutritional food recipes (PaushtikAahar), Instant Baby Food was done by preparing them on spot by Demonstration Officer Sh. Kewal Krishan from Food & Nutrition Board.
The event was organised under the overall supervision of CDPO, R.S. Pura, Neeraj Bhargav. Mission Director, ICDS Projects J&K, Neetu Gupta, was the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour was Deputy Director, ICDS Projects Jammu, Atul Gupta.
A Scintillating Cultural Programme was also organized wherein emphasis was laid on ‘Women Empowerment’. The information dissemination regarding Healthy and Nutritious diet was also done through the medium of skit. Later, felicitation of Women Achievers/AWWs/Ministerial Staff for outstanding achievement and dedicated services was done.
Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director ICDS Projects J&K stressed upon “Empowerment as a means of accepting and including women who are on outside of the decision making process into it”. She hailed the multi-tasking capacity of women and appreciated them as how do they maintain balance between family and work.
