Institute of Chartered Accountants of India opened Representative Office of the ICAI in Srinagar
Srinagar: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), set up by an Act of Parliament to regulate the profession of Chartered Accountancy has a glorious track record in rendering and administering an internationally renowned Indian profession. During more than seven decades of its existence, ICAI has always been proactively supporting all endeavors of the Government as a part of its role in aiding towards better governance. ICAI has a strong tradition of service to the public interest and to the Indian economy.
ICAI’s sagacious journey of more than 71 years has seen it expand nationally and globally establishing 5 Regional Councils & 164 branches in India and 37 Overseas Chapters & 26 representative offices across 43 Countries.
As a True Partner in Nation Building, the Institute today i.e on December 15, 2020 opened Representative Office of the ICAI in Srinagar. This is a significant initiative as this office will help in providing much needed professional employment opportunities to the local youth, socio-economic upliftment through skill development and will facilitate spreading of knowledge in the field of accountancy and offer services to the members and students of the Union Territory of J&K.
Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony, Hon’ble Justice Shri P.P. Bhatt, President, The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal announced that the ITAT shall soon hold the Camp Bench from ICAI Office at Srinagar to help in bringing justice to the doorstep of the citizens of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. While congratulating ICAI for the endeavour, he added that, “ICAI decision to Grant of 75% waiver in the registration fee for the students pursuing CA course from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and North-eastern States together with the office in these states will certainly provide wings to dreams of Students desiring to pursue higher professional education”.
Shri G. S. Pannu, FCA,Vice-President, ITAT, Guest of Honor at the programme while applauding the efforts of ICAI said “Contribution of ICAI in economic and social development in different parts of the world is well recognised and I feel extremely proud seeing the growth story of my Alma Mater.With this initiative, I am hopeful that the CA course will be provided to the interested candidates at their doorstep and thus empower the youth through skill development.”
CA. Atul Kumar Gupta, President, ICAI while addressing the members, mentioned that “ICAI since its very inception, has been immensely passionate about its purpose to propagate progress and has persistently recognised the developments. After office in Leh, this office in Srinagar is yet another step as social-economic catalyst for skill development and empowerment of youth.”
The inauguration ceremony was held in the distinguished presence of Vice-President ICAI CA. Nihar N Jambusaria, Central Council members of ICAI, Managing Committee members of J&K Branch of ICAI, and ICAI members of Union Territory in large numbers.
In times to come, this office will facilitate:
Grant of 75% waiver in the registration fee for the student pursuing CA course from J&K
The office will act as a facilitation centre to spread awareness about CA Course
The course shall be made available to the interested candidates at their doorstep & thus empower the youth through skill development
This would facilitate spreading of knowledge in the field of accountancy, Corporate Governance and facilitate services to the Members, Students and Stakeholders in the aforesaid Union Territory
