Int. conference on Talib Amuli on February 9

ALIGARH  : The Institute of Persian research, Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the Iran Culture House, New Delhi is organizing an International Conference on Mohammad Talib Amuli, poet laureate of the court of Emperor Jahangir, on February 9, 2023.

According to Prof Azarmi Dukht Safavi, Honorary Director, Persian Institute said that Talib Amuli was the poet laureate of Jahangir and was the greatest exponent of Indo-Persian style of poetry which later got widespread currency across India.

Prof Mohammad Usman Ghani, Director of the Institute said that the conference will begin at 11 am at the Conference Hall, Faculty of Social Sciences.

He said that an Iranian folk music and poetry recitation programme, Talib Khwani, by Iranian artists Ostad Ali Asghar Rostami, Mortaza Neekzad and Buruz Behrami will also be held later at 12:45 noon.

Prominent paediatrician Dr Hameeda Tariq will be the chief guest while Iranian Cultural Counsellor, Dr Mohammad Ali Rabbani will grace the programme as a special guest. AMU Women’s College principal, Prof Naima Khatoon will be the guest of honour.
