Inter-college debate on ‘Gender Equality in Contemporary India: Challenges & Prospects’ held at GDC Kokernag

 

ANANTNAG : As part of ‘Azada Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative of the government and to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day-2022, the Debates and Seminar Committee in collaboration with Department of Sociology and NSS Unit of GDC Kokernag today organized Inter-College debate on “Gender Equality in Contemporary India: Challenges and Prospects”.

The debate was held under the patronage of Principal GDC Kokernag, Prof. M Shafi Malik.

Students from six colleges including the host college participated in the said event. The committee appointed a jury to assess the performance of debaters. The event was moderated by Programme Officer, NSS Unit Javid Majeed Wani.

The inaugural function was followed by speeches of invited debaters. Every speaker highlighted the theme of the Debate “Gender Equality in Contemporary India: Challenges and Prospects”.

The event was topped by Rifat Mir from GDC Kokernag whereas Makhdoomi Simran Khurshid from GDC (Women) Anantnag secured the 2nd position. The 3rd position was secured by Azhar Mushtaq, student of GDC (Boys) Anantnag.

The top three position holders were felicitated with trophies and cash prizes. The organizers of the event and the jury congratulated all the position holders as well as other participants who showed their keen interest to participate in the competition.
