Interactive meeting held at the Department of Geology

ALIGARH  : Mr Jitendra Kumar, an alumnus of the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University and currently a Manager (Geology) at the Coal India Limited, interacted with the students of the department and discussed the “role of geologists in a geological industry in general and coal industry in particular”.

The interactive meeting was organized by the Training and Placement Cell, Department of Geology.

Mr Kumar underscored the indispensable role played by geologists in a mining company and highlighted recent trends in coal demand in the national and international market. He urged the students to prepare hard for competitive examinations of various geology-related companies/industries along with the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for the posts of geologist and hydro-geologist.

Responding to the queries of students, he advised them to consult internet based resources for exploring new articles on geosciences and keep themselves abreast with the latest information, technologies and trends in the field.

Prof. M.E.A. Mondal, Training and Placement Officer (Department of Geology) introduced the guest and remarked that the interactive meetings are intended to provide the students with new insights into academia-industry relationship.
