International Colloquium on India-Europe Water Technology R&D Project

Aligarh: The Department of Civil Engineering, ZH College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is organizing an International Colloquium of different Stakeholders and Business Match-making on 24th January 2023, under the aegis of PAVITR Research Project and India-Europe Water Technology R&D Project supported by DST, Government of India and European Commission.

Prof Nadeem Khalil (Department of Civil Engineering), Lead India Coordinator, PAVITR Research Project, AMU, said, PAVITR research project is the community impact project involving Research & Development to address the environmental challenges in India. “It was started in 2019 with a duration of 4 years. The total cost of the project is approximately Rs. 28 Crores out of which about Rs. 8.0 Crores is Indian contribution”, he added.

AMU Aligarh is the lead coordinating institution from the Indian side under the investigatorship of Prof Nadeem Khalil whereas Mirko Hänel is EU representative from TTZ Germany. The other research partners from Europe and India are Aarhus University, Denmark, BOKU University, Austria, University of Catalunya Barcelona, Spain, UFZ Germany, AIMEN Research Centre, IRIDRA Italy, Spain, BIOAZUL Spain, AUTARCON Germany, KRETA Germany, PESSL, Austria, SEECON Switzerland, NEERI Nagpur, National Mission for Clean Ganga, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Dhanbad, Symbiosis University, Pune, ESF Pune, and LAARS, Nagpur.

“A total of 14 pilot plants for water, wastewater and sludge treatment are being implemented at different places in India for local conditions”, said Prof Khalil adding that all the technologies are proven and tested in Europe but their efficacy and applicability are being experimented under Indian climatic and other conditions so that once successfully implemented these technologies can be replicated.
