International conference concludes
ALIGARH : The two-day international conference on “Migration and Diaspora in West Asian and North African Region – Global Concerns and Implications for India” organized by the Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Aligarh Muslim University concluded with a detailed discussion on various aspects of the crucial issue of migration and diaspora in the above region.
The chief guest, Professor Nazim Ali former Registrar, highlighted the challenges and opportunities posed by migration and diaspora in the region. He stressed the need to address the root causes of migration and work towards creating a conducive environment for the diaspora to thrive and contribute to the development of their home countries.
AMU Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohd Gulrez expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants for making the conference a success. He emphasized the importance of academic research and its role in shaping policies and strategies to address the challenges posed by migration and diaspora.
The guest of honor, Prof Dr. Jaran Maluleem (Dept of Political Science, Thammasat University, Thailand) emphasized the need to understand the socio-economic and political factors that drive migration in the region and its impact on the host and home countries.
He also stressed the importance of promoting cultural exchange and dialogue to foster better understanding between India and the West Asian and North African region.
Another guest of honor, Prof Faik Celik (Professor at Kocaeli University and the head of the Foreign Trade Department, Turkey) discussed the changing dynamics of migration and its impact on the global economy.
