International Day against Drug abuse: GDC Nowshera holds online awareness activities

Nowshera: The Red Ribbon Club, GDC Nowshera, in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society, organized various online awareness activities to observe the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, 2020.
To mark the day, 3 different events were organized i.e. Poster making on the theme “just say no to drugs”, Slogan writing on “Life doesn’t Rewind, Say no to Drugs” and an inter-collegiate quiz on “Drugs and Alcohol Abuse”.
The main purpose of organizing these activities was to raise awareness among the students about drug abuse and highlight the hazards associated with it.
In online quiz competition, 44 students belonging to various colleges from across the UT of J&K participated enthusiastically. Of these, 23 students qualified for top 3 positions and were awarded e-certificates.
In the Poster making competition, a total of 17 posters were received from 4 different institutions namely GDC Reasi, GDC Billawar, Stephens College of Nursing, Jammu and GDC Nowshera. The top 3 positions were claimed by students of GDC Nowshera. Indu (B.Sc. Sem. II) bagged first position; Rachita Sharma (B.Sc.-IV) stood Second while the Third position was claimed by Sonia Choudhary (B.Sc.-IV).
In the Slogan writing contest, 10 students from different institutions i.e. Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Punjab; GDC Reasi; GDC Billawar; Stephens College of Nursing, Jammu and GDC Nowshera participated. Of these, 4 students qualified for top 3 positions.
Vishal Singh Andotra (sem-II) of GDC Billawar stood First; the second position was jointly shared by Gagandeep Choudhary (B.Sc. Sem.-IV) of GDC Nowshera and Anoo Radha (M.Sc.-I) of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Punjab, while the Third place was claimed by Inderpal Kour (B.A.-VI) of GDC Nowshera. All the toppers will be awarded e-certificates.
All these activities were organized by Prof. Pooja Devi, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club, GDC Nowshera.
NSS Unit of GDC, Nowshera under the supervision of NSS programme officer, Prof. Gurjeet Singh also screened a short Punjabi Movie “SUKH” a story of Father and Son in which father saves his son from Drug Addiction.
All these activities were organized under the supervision and able guidance of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college.
