International Nurses Day observed
ALIGARH : The College of Nursing, Aligarh Muslim University organized a commemorative function at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, to observe the International Nurses Day. AMU Proctor, Prof Mohd Wasim Ali was the chief guest.
In his address, while upholding the significant place that nurses have in a hospital system, Prof Ali said that without nurses, no hospital can be imagined. Nurses are the backbone of a hospital management and the patients’ upkeep and management of the health system in a hospital framework completely lies on the shoulders of the nurses.
Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and CMS, J.N. Medical College appreciated the role of nurses in patients’ management.
Prof. Rafiuddin, Dean of Students Welfare, praised nurses for their selfless services towards patients.
Prof. Haris Manzoor Khan, former Medical Superintendent, JNMCH, shared anecdotes from his long association with the college and urged the new generations of nurses to get acquainted with the recent developments in the field.
Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal, College of Nursing, said that the nursing profession, like other professions, is also developing in nature and the patient management system is now driven by innovation and technological advances. Now, nurses have to embrace these advances and help manage patients with an innovative approach.
Prof Waseem Rizvi, Medical Superintendent, JNMCH also addressed the occasion.
Earlier, Mrs. Shahana Parveen, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, JNMC hospital welcomed the guests while souvenirs were presented to them by Mrs. Hooma Ruhi and Mrs. Shahana Parveen.
Mrs. Meena Devi, Acting Metron, Malkhan Singh Hospital, Mrs. Radha Rani Verma, Vice President, State Nurses Association, Uttar Pradesh, Mrs. Shahjahan, Matron, Women’s Hospital attended the programme as the guests of honour.
The nurses and nursing students presented a beautiful cultural programme, including singing and recitation of poems.
The winners of various competitive events, including Mirza Shajad Baig, Incharge, MICU were felicitated with prizes on this occasion.
