International School “Nanostructured Oxide Films and Coatings”

From June 1 to June 4, the fifth international youth scientific school-seminar “Nanostructured oxide films and coatings” (NSOPP-2021) was held at PetrSU. The organizers of the school were the laboratory “Physics of nanostructured oxide films and coatings” of the Physicotechnical Institute of PetrSU, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, LLC “Nelan-oxide plus” (Petrozavodsk).
The purpose of the school was to analyze and summarize the achievements of research teams in Russia and other countries in the following areas of research on nanostructured oxide films and coatings, as well as systems based on them:

Formation: kinetics and mechanism of growth, the role of self-organization.
Structure at the atomic, mesoscopic and microscopic levels.
Correlation of structure and properties.
Innovative shaping technologies.
Development of methods for analyzing structure and properties.
Modern applications.
The full-time program of the school-seminar included plenary sessions, at which review lectures were given by leading scientists, oral sections and a poster section.

The total number of participants who presented their reports and listeners to the 5th school-seminar was 63 people. 10 plenary, 7 oral and 19 poster presentations were presented . The listeners were specialists from the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Petrozavodsk State University, as well as 2nd – 5th year students of the Physico-Technical Institute of PetrSU. 28 participants ( 20 of them – students, graduate students and young scientists) chose the correspondence presentation of the results of their research, abstracts were published, some of them ( 10) sent articles on the materials of the reports for publication in the collection “Nanostructured oxide films and coatings”, published as a result of the school-seminar.

Leading scientists in this field took part in the work of the school-seminar, giving lectures and reports: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Prof., V.G.Soloviev (S.M.Budyonny Military Academy of Communications, Petersburg), candidate of technical sciences, deputy director V.V. Savich (Institute of Applied Mathematics named after O.V. Roman, Minsk), Associate Professor, Doctor of Chemistry M.S. Vasilyeva and Ph.D., Senior Researcher I.V. Lukiyanchuk (IH FEB RAS, Vladivostok), Doctor of Geology and Mathematics, Head of Laboratory. shungitov V.V. Kovalevsky (IG KarRC RAS, Petrozavodsk), associate professor, Ph.D. A.A. Poznyak (Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Minsk), doctor of technical sciences, prof., Head of laboratory. N.I. Mukhurov (State Scientific and Production Association “Optics, Optoelectronics, Laser Technology”, Minsk), Ph.D., General Director. JSC “Manel” P.I. Butyagin (Tomsk), prof., Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, head of laboratory. N.M. Yakovleva (PetrSU, Petrozavodsk) and other scientists.

Interesting oral reports were presented by scientific youth (graduate students and young employees) from Moscow, Vladivostok, Apatit, Petrozavodsk.

The organizing committee of the school-seminar held a competition of poster presentations presented by young participants. The diploma for the best report was awarded to Valentin Artemyev, 5th year student of the Physicotechnical Institute of PetrSU, for the report “Features of the growth of anodic oxide films on niobium”.

The materials of the school-seminar were published in the form of an electronic collection of articles based on the lectures and reports of young participants read by invited speakers. The collection also includes articles, the authors of which have chosen the correspondence form of participation in the work of the school-seminar. Among them are doctor of technical sciences, head of laboratory. V.M. Orlov (ICHTREMS KolRC RAS, Apatity), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Assoc. S.A. Pyachin (Pacific State University, Khabarovsk) and others.

When summing up the results of the school-seminar, all the speeches positively assessed the work of the organizing committee, the relevance of the problems discussed within the framework of the school-seminar. All participants noted the successful selection of topics for lectures and reports, the efficient work of the secretariat and excellent organization.
